The credible brand concept, the growth of the market for internet sports betting, the experienced management and the pioneering role of bwin (formerly betandwin) moved Global Equity Partners to invest in the Austrian sports betting company in 1999.

The company's development was exemplary. bwin appealed to a new target group in the information and entertainment sector. In July 2000 bwin's listing as the first Austrian internet company on the stock exchange was extremely successful. The sports betting company has since continued to grow. Today bwin provides Europe's widest range of sports betting and is the number 1 in the Internet.

bwin is the most successful Venture Capital investment of the last 10 years in Austria. The investment was sold entirely in 2005.
